Damsels Tower
The building with the biggest surface of the complex is the Pazo dos Condes (Palace of the Counts), that forms part of the Damas Tower, considered as the first Keep of Monterrei, together with the prismatic merlons of the south garden, the sector where they preserve the oldest remains of the monumental complex. It was built in the XIV century, although today it forms part of the renaissance area of the Pazo do Condes, but it continues being its own individual entity with a clear medieval origin. The Damas Tower presents a floor of a reduced surface area (57, 50 m2), five floors (the upper floor with barbican) and a height of 19 m. Standing out is the “parladoiro” (stone window seat) of the third floor, that faces the exterior through two triple arched gothic windows.
