Trinity Hospital
It was built by the Abbot Vasco Peres, who left the memory of his initiative on the facade of the monument in gothic lettering. This kind of work formed part of the charitable and social activity of the medieval nobility to minimally cover the necessities of those most in need. It shows Christ the Redeemer surrounded by the evangelists: Saint Mark (lion), Saint Luke (bull), Saint John (eagle) and Saint Matthew (man). The construction of the hospital began in 1429, three years before the town was passed from the King to the Lord of the Manor. It is said that in 1753 the town had a “hospital to take in and cure the poor and the local people, as well as passing strangers, and it was maintained by its patron the Duchess of Alba”
