Rectory House
The rectory house was the house occupied by the clergy that operated inside the fortress. It is a traditional dwelling with two exterior patios. The ground floor is made up of a sequence of three areas at different levels, one of which has access to the patios. On the first floor is situated the kitchen and five rooms, all having exterior ventilation. From this floor a staircase goes up to the Solana (Sun house). It constructively follows traditional architectural patterns, with dry Stone walls and a wooden structure with a curved tiled roof. The Solana (a place that receives a lot of sun) is wooden. The secular clergy of Monterrei was constituted by two presbyters, one of which was the abbot of St Mary of Grace. The Franciscan convent (32 clergies) ended up having 27 priests and the Jesuit convent (15 clergies and 9 priests).
